Asst. Prof. Mert Yildirim Delivered an Oral Presentation at ICENSTED 2026


Asst. Prof. Mert Yildirim, presented his study investigating the mechanical performance of natural fiber/glass fiber reinforced hybrid composites as an oral presentation at the ICENSTED 2026 Conference. The research revealed the decisive effect of fiber stacking order on tensile and flexural properties, yielding significant findings that will contribute to the development of sustainable and high-performance composite materials.


Asst. Prof. Mert Yildirim from the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Istanbul Gelisim University, participated in the 3rd International Conference on Engineering, Natural Sciences, and Technological Developments (ICENSTED 2026), where he delivered an oral presentation titled “The Influence of Fiber Stacking Sequence on the Tensile and Flexural Properties of Natural Fiber/Glass Fiber Hybrid Composites.”

This study investigated the effects of fiber stacking sequence on the tensile and flexural properties of natural fiber- and glass fiber-reinforced hybrid composites. The aim was to contribute to the development of sustainable, high-performance composite materials by combining the environmentally friendly, lightweight, and low-cost characteristics of natural fibers with the high mechanical strength of glass fibers.

The results demonstrated that fiber arrangement plays a decisive role in determining the mechanical properties of hybrid composites. The findings are expected to guide the design of more efficient and sustainable hybrid composite materials for use in the automotive, aerospace, construction, and other engineering industries.
